One Sunday in May, the hours are counted at Carolina's house. There are only 24 missing a day in which it will be necessary to publicly adhere to the collective emotion that has overwhelmed a small community on the sea, a few kilometers from the capital. Mauro Secondari, a young worker who fell in the factory in which at least three generations passed through those parts, has passed away. And for seven days Carolina has been alone, with a ten-year-old son, and with her immense effort to sink into pain for the loss of the love of her life. There is only one day left to the funeral where everyone will be expecting a devastated young widow who passes out every two minutes. How can we not disappoint all those people? And above all, how can she not disappoint herself?

A corner of the township, a council house, three floors of concrete. Inside live: Chiara and her husband Marcello, a former bodybuilder with uncertain sexuality. Francesca, the militant left wing paraplegic. Bruno, Romanist ultrà in day care. And then Gianfranco, the drug dealer who tries to get into the big business. Eugenio known as "er trottola", who works in a workshop and finds himself in love with the prostitute with whom he lives ... In this landscape made of pieces of countryside and strips of metropolis, the various stories intertwine, joining those of characters that they chose the township, out of rebellion, out of fascination. Like Flaminia who married Bruno by breaking up with her family; or like the Professor, who loves Marcello and keeps him. With Il Contagio we want to tell the story of two worlds apparently distant from each other but absolutely complementary and which depend on each other in an essential way: we do not want to describe the periphery as a closed universe, but we aim to bring out the dynamics that lead to contagion of the "world below" with that of "above".

A story set in the 90s in Ostia and in the Roman suburbs, the same places where Pasolini made the characters of his films live, wander, love and suffer. Those who were once the "boys of life", in the 90s seem to belong, even if in the most desperate suburbs, to a world that revolves around hedonism. A world where money, powerful cars, night clubs, synthetic drugs and cocaine "run easy", in which Vittorio and Cesare, in their early twenties, act in search of their success. The initiation into existence has a very high cost for them and Vittorio, to save himself, distances himself from Cesare, who instead collapses inexorably. The bond that unites them is so strong that Vittorio will never really abandon his friend, always hoping to to be able to look to the future with new eyes. Together.

MY CLASS

Integration, which is a cultural process rather than a social one, starts from the desks of a class. In addition to the massive presence of foreign children in Italian compulsory education, there is another army of students of different ages, sexes and above all who attend Italian language and culture courses organized by CTP (permanent territorial center), associations of more or less known volunteering, private schools and public schools. Any time, any day. My class is a true story that is born within unconventional school walls and follows the course of everyday life: the life of the children with their families and communities, and of the teacher with his impulses, his cutting irony, the doubts and fears of those who realize they are building the Italy that will be. And he gets involved, also finding the strength to fight his illness.
